Some people may find sitting face-to-face in a traditional therapy setting too intense and may prefer to meet for outdoor sessions (Walk and Talk Therapy). Walking side-by-side at a comfortable pace can help talking about difficult experiences feel less overwhelming.
I have increasingly come to appreciate the therapeutic value of nature. I am very lucky to have the South Downs, numerous parks and the sea on my doorstep. I love to be outdoors, whether sitting, walking or running, finding personal meaning and connection within myself and my natural surroundings. These natural spaces provide not only a regulating container, they are also rich in metaphor and creativity, and can be a co-therapist to anyone curious to explore more of their here-and-now experience.
If you are interested in outdoor therapy sessions, we would initially meet in one of my therapy rooms (or online) to discuss what to expect and to agree a natural space to meet in that is suitable for you.
